I’ve been looking forward to Madison + Jason’s wedding since December 20, 2017 – the day Madison first inquired. It quickly became clear that we were a match made in wedding heaven, and their engagement session the following summer definitely confirmed that.
I was honestly so excited to wake up this beautiful June day and watch Madison + Jason finally have the wedding they’ve been waiting for. Their love for each other is evident in every laugh, hand hold, and sweet word they say to each other. Their first look felt like a movie you’ve been waiting years to see, and her walk down the aisle was the culmination of all the days + years before them.
Sometimes when I shoot a wedding, I feel like a vendor they’ve hired for the day – maybe because I am.
But my favorite weddings are the ones where I feel like an old friend. This was one of those.
I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am to see your newlywed life unfold together. You’re going to be so dang great at this marriage thing, and at everything else life throws your way.

This was a wedding two years in the making for me. As soon as I heard Mike + Denise’s vision for what they wanted it to be, I was in.
Denise is a wedding planner, and it showed in every tiny, personalized detail – from their homemade jam as wedding favors to the way they honored all their family before them. Mooreland Mansion was the perfect setting for their perfect day.
I’m going to let you in on a little secret. After years of shooting countless weddings, there are still [frequent] moments that make me cry. During their first look, Mike + Denise read each other some of the most thoughtful, meaningful, and well written words I’ve ever heard. I cried my way through the whole thing.
When I get to spend my weekends at weddings as special as this one, it’s a challenge to make sure my photos do these moments justice. I hope that as you scroll through these images, you’ll feel just a portion of the emotions that were present this day.

Man, this winter’s been brutal. I’m the first one to appreciate a good snow storm, and I really don’t even mind getting bundled up to go outside. I generally really enjoy the winter time. But by the time March rolls around, I just want to be outside again. So on this particular twelve degree day, we did just that.
Kylie + Paul were referred to me by another photographer who wasn’t available to shoot their wedding, but if you ask me, it all feels a little like fate. Their wedding this October is actually on my own wedding anniversary, and if I’m being honest, I turned down a couple weddings for that day because I intended to keep the weekend open to celebrate with my husband. But once I learned all about Kylie + Paul, the wedding they’re having and the kind of people they are, there was no way I could turn them down.
Kylie + Paul live in Wheeling, WV and ventured to the arctic white north for their engagement session. I was so excited to finally meet them, and man they didn’t disappoint. They have no more experience in front of a camera than any other engaged couple, but their chemistry made all the difference. When two people are in love, and they allow themselves to forget about how cold it is, or what’s going on around them for a second, I can get images like these – open mouth laughs, genuine “warm me up” cuddles, and a little taste of what their love looks like in a single still frame. As an added bonus, we got to hang out with my friend Nick. He’s their wedding videographer, and he captured this whole session in motion! I can’t wait to see what kind of magic he worked.
“I don’t know what you want me to tell you, man. All I know is that every time I’ve been faced with a tough decision, there’s only one thing that outweighs every other concern. One thing that will make you give up on everything you thought you knew, every instinct, every rational calculation – Love. Listen. No matter what happens, you gotta forget about all the other stuff. You gotta forget about logic and fear and doubt. You just gotta do everything you can to get to the one woman who’s gonna make all this worth it. At the end of the day, you gotta jump.
My maternity session with Katie & Mike was filled with some perfect sunlight, calm water, and the sweet springtime air. What more could I ask for?
If you look hard enough in my parents’ basement, you’ll find pictures of my dad sitting on the floor with me, adorned from head to toe in plastic jewels & gems playing my favorite childhood game – Pretty Pretty Princess. Some families watched movies together, we spent our weeknights trash talking each other during a heated game of Sorry. We knew mom would win at all the word games. (Boggle is her jam) And dad was so good at Balderdash he’d have Webster second guessing himself. Let’s just say board games were our thing. In college, I was lucky enough to find friends that loved playing games as much as I do. We’d spend our Saturday
mornings afternoons playing games that we’d made up, and we’d laugh until we cried. (the crying was mostly due to the papers we’d neglected to write all day.) And now, as a married twenty something, we still have many nights filled with Settlers of Catan, and we’ve upped our Boggle game a bit. Now that you’ve learned a bit about my gaming history, you can imagine my excitement when I discovered that there is a place, nearly in my own backyard, where the board games are plentiful and the food is delicious.
Tabletop is a Board Game Cafe in Ohio City. You pay a few bucks and play all the games you want for as long as you want. I’d love to tell you more, but I’d rather you gather a few friends (preferably including myself) and play games until your heart’s content. I promise you’ll have fun.
Here are a few of my favorite images from my shoot at Tabletop. (+ a little something extra at the bottom.)
